The Green Hornet

Director: Michel Gondry
Stars: Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Christopher Waltz, Cameron Diaz
Running Time: 119 mins

A good, fun action film with Seth Rogan’s sidekick, Kato, doing a great job and plenty of funny moments between the two of them.  I was surprised to notice in the end credits that Seth Rogan wrote the script and to be honest, I think he did a better job writing it than acting in it, as his sidekick Kato outshines him.  It is worth watching, although for me it is yet another film which didn’t really need to be in 3D.  (In fact, the only two films I have ever seen which justified 3D were Avatar and Tron Legacy – as I have never been disappointed with the picture quality and experience of watching a film in 2D.)

The Dilemma

Director: Ron Howard
Stars: Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Winona Ryder, Jennifer Connelly
Running Time: 111 min

What would you do if you found out your best mate’s wife was having an affair behind his back?  There is no easy answer.  However, to be honest I was expecting a laugh a minute like I have enjoyed from some previous Vince Vaughan films like Wedding Crashers.  However, in reality the film's Dilemma is actually whether it's pure comedy or a deep and meaningful and the end result does not leave a great impression.  This did reinforce the trend that a movie my wife recommends is usually pretty good even if I had doubts, whereas the films I suggest that she is sceptical of, can be a bit pants - like this.
